The Transformative Power of Deep Rest

The Transformative Power of Deep Rest

Our lives are constantly moving, demanding, and pressing. We have relationships and responsibilities and things to reckon with on the inside and outside. Socially and emotionally we have to deal with our stuff (or mess) and then somewhat with everyone else's since we live in communities and a country with diverse people and ideas.

Amidst the chaos, finding moments of deep rest can be a powerful antidote. It offers benefits that extend beyond mere relaxation. Here are 5 actions I think you can take to improve your overall well-being. It is the deep rest that comes with a regenerative life.

1. Silence the Noise

We aren't made to be on all the time. I always say that machines break down. Humans break down when they act like machines. Finding moments of silence becomes crucial for deep rest. When you allow your spirit, soul and body to shut out the noise, you create a safe space for a profound sense of peace, an opportunity for revelation and purification. As the noise diminishes, your lips, often the unwitting messengers of stress and tension, find reprieve.

2. Cultivate Communication

When your spirit is at rest, your ability to communicate just transforms. Mindful communication becomes a natural byproduct of a rested soul. Your words carry more weight, and the energy behind them is imbued with a sense of tranquility. By allowing your spirit to rest, you enable your lips to convey thoughts and emotions with greater clarity and intention. This mindful communication fosters deeper connections with others and promotes a more harmonious environment in both personal and professional relationships.

3. Nourish and Transform Your Soul

Taking time for spiritual rest allows you to feed your inner being with the food it craves. This nourishment radiates outward, influencing every aspect of your being, including your physical appearance. Your emotions, especially the harder ones like anxiety, fear, doubt, anger, and sadness change their triggers and soften. As your soul is changed, your lips, often reflective of inner vitality, may begin to display a natural vibrancy and warmth, even just because you're smiling more.

4. Restoration

Open the door to profound healing on multiple levels. We are human. We are regenerative. Like the plants in the garden, we can heal and grow and bear fruit. When we take deep rest to mend emotional wounds, the toll of daily stress on our body and mind lessens - even when circumstances do not change. This healing extends to your lips because you no longer hold the tenseness of life there.

5. Enhance Self-Expression

A rested soul gives life to enhanced self-expression. As you connect with your innermost thoughts and emotions, your ability to express yourself authentically is heightened. You bear fruit! This authenticity is reflected in the words that pass through your lips, allowing you to communicate with a depth and sincerity that goes beyond mere surface-level conversation.

Deep rest is necessary for a soft life for those who are resilient. I know exhaustion well and exhausted people. But I'm here to encourage you. By taking intentional steps to nurture your inner self, you unlock so many positive effects that touch every aspect of yourself, including your lips. So, make it a priority to carve out moments for deep rest - spiritual, soul, and body - in your daily life, and watch! Something crazy good is going to unfold before you, leaving its mark on your lips and beyond.
